The founding of the Probus Markham Club was not born out of obligation—it was born from a shared desire to serve. A handful of forward-thinking, community-minded “doers”, many recently retired or shifting into a new life stage, came together united by one common belief: that this chapter of life could be the most vibrant yet.

Each founding member brought their own unique gift to the table—leadership, organisation, creativity, warmth, and vision. Together, they leveraged their strengths to shape a bold and welcoming idea: a space where people over 55 could not only connect but thrive. A place where wisdom meets energy, and where the desire to keep growing is matched only by the joy of championing one another.

They saw not emptiness or limitation, but 

opportunities to grow, give back, and build each other up.

They envisioned a dynamic, inclusive community free of politics and religion, in line with the values of PROBUS Canada: one built on friendship, learning, and shared experiences. And they rolled up their sleeves to bring that vision to life.

Monthly speakers, interest groups, social outings, walking clubs, day trips, and conversations over coffee became the heartbeat of something extraordinary.
