ROLE DESCRIPTION – VICE - PRESIDENT

PROBUS CANADA MISSION:

Provide regular monthly and other gatherings (events) for retired and semi-retired individuals who appreciate and value opportunities to meet with others of similar interests.

PROBUS CANADA OVERVIEW:

Probus is a volunteer-based, non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian fellowship organization with over 4,000 clubs worldwide (250 in Canada with 35,000+ members). Focused on promoting healthy minds and bodies in a venue of socializing, with other retirees in the communities.

ROLE TITLE: Vice – President                                         ROLE TENURE: 2 years 

NAME: Miro Turcaj    

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Acts as the primary understudy to the President (Co-Presidents), assisting with day to day and strategic planning, governance and operational management in preparation for assuming the role of President, in due course. In this role, the Vice-President acts as a “shadow” to the President, assumes certain accountabilities, while learning the scope and duties encapsulated within the President’s role.

PRIMARY SKILLS:

  • Experience: Prior leadership roles and hands-on people management exposure
  • Commitment: Invested in Club mission necessitating attendance at monthly meetings
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Markham Club operations / meeting protocols / volunteers and roles / committee types / financial processes / monthly reports
  • Leadership and Communication: Ability to work within a loose team structure / Team focused / verbal, written and Word proficiency
  • Organization: Highly organized with the ability to multi-task / support committees in the completion of work with hard deadlines

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountability: For assuming increasing responsibilities and for decisions being made
  • Leadership Support: Assumes President’s duties when President is absent, unavailable or in event of a vacancy
  • Operational Oversight: Collaborates with Leadership Team to help manage operations ensuring club acts in alignment with Probus Canada mission.
  • Committee Liaison: May act as a liaison for sub-committees, ensuring they can fulfill their mission and receive appropriate Leadership Team supports
  • Planning Events: Assists in setting goals for Club direction and helps plan, coordinate and execute events
  • Communicator: May provide updates to members regarding meetings, events and other matters / communicate so that all internal partners understand the understudy role
  • Other: May be assigned a variety of tasks as directed by the President at this stage
